DOUBLE BILL:
Papa Joe Roberts Quartet
Papa Joe Roberts - Baritone Saxophone
John Reeves - Piano Accordion
Mitch Bellert - Drums
Elliot Parker - Double Bass
As Queensland’s preeminent baritone saxophone specialist, Joe has had an extensive and varied career. He is a long-standing member of The Bowery Hot 5, which played every Wednesday at The Bowery since the dawn of time, itself. Joe has worked with many respected local and international artists such as Natalie Cole, James Morrison, Tom Burlinson, Michael Feinstein, Kerbside Collection, Bull Horn, Chukale and Frankie Valli. Joe was a session player on The Bluey Album(Joff Bush), the only children’s album to ever hit #1 on the Aria charts(take THAT, The Wiggles). The quartet is a way to explore the flexibility of this peculiar instrumentation, not quite a piano-less quartet. Also, it’s a fabulous excuse to hang out.
